Dear Mr. Powers and Members of the Powhatan County Board of Supervisors,
(Case 706-2024) is for two tracts of land totaling 36.84-acres that was previously zoned Agricultural (A-10) and was re-zoned in October 2023 to Commerce Center (CC) and is now proposed for Village Center Planned Development (VC-PD) even though the land is not in the Powhatan Village as required by the county comprehensive plan.
The developer plans to build 150 high density, residential housing units including multi-family townhouse buildings at a density of approximately 4 units per acre, with the remainder being four commercial buildings along Anderson Highway (Route 60). This development will have irreversible impacts on our traffic, infrastructure, and the environment and is the type of development that threatens our rural way of life by opening the door to other High-Density Townhouses and Apartments along both sides of Route 60.
